My Time With A Gun, Part 5
I was a recent hire by the sheriff’s office in late 1994 and assigned to work in one of two maximum security housing modules. The module, not to dissimilar to the accompanying photo, housed 72 inmates. 56 in regular max housing and 16 in disciplinary segregation.
This is where I learned that crooks don’t have rules. Naive? Just a bit.

Officers Down
Between September 4th and the 23rd there have been 13 officers killed. The vast majority in automobile accidents (both cars and motorcycles). Additionally we have lost 4 officers to gunfire.

26 Officers Down between June 17th and Sept 2nd. The majority were feloniously killed. This posting also brings the greatest number of female officers killed during the same time period.

Officers Down
Since my last posting we have lost 11 more officers (48 down for the year). Of those 11, 6 died in vehicle accidents, 4 from gunfire and 1 from being struck by a vehicle.
