.We pay honors to four officers who died in the line of duty or as the result of injuries sustained in the line of duty.
Between September 4th and the 23rd there have been 13 officers killed. The vast majority in automobile accidents (both cars and motorcycles). Additionally we have lost 4 officers to gunfire.
26 Officers Down between June 17th and Sept 2nd. The majority were feloniously killed. This posting also brings the greatest number of female officers killed during the same time period.
Since my last posting we have lost 11 more officers (48 down for the year). Of those 11, 6 died in vehicle accidents, 4 from gunfire and 1 from being struck by a vehicle.
This May has been a bad month. So far there have been four officers killed.
